The author couple Meron Mendel and Saba-Nur Cheema can sense the rift that has become apparent in their social environment, in society and in the social media since the brutal terrorist attack by Hamas on 7 October. Meron Mendel, historian and director of the Anne Frank Educational Centre, is Jewish. His wife, political scientist Saba-Nur Cheema, is Muslim. The couple have been travelling the country for months with the mission of softening the hardened fronts in the national debate and getting people talking to each other.
