“El sol y la vida” is a dance theatre piece that returns hidden and hurtful moments back to light which we would prefer to forget. How do I experience hurt? How do I deal with it? And how can I distance myself from it again? Or does it transform when I learn to love it? There is a deliberate focus on the new, because as soon as winter ends, summer can give us strength once more. Frida Kahlo’s painting is a symbol of life and thus the place where everything happens. We have all come from nature – the feeling of the forest. The painting and our piece represent life in all its chaos. Ups and downs – with time, you can see sense in them. Hurt cannot be explained, but the power of the sun will continue to nourish us. Let’s not relinquish it. Let’s look ahead. Let’s trust and understand: When the old perishes, the new can emerge from its own strength.
