Livio Minafra

Minafra is a common name to the Italian jazz audience. Two generations – trumpet playing father Pino and son Livio – have each in their own right risen to jazz-fame, the first one sooner, the last-mentioned later: natural causes.

In his solo-concerts Livio excels in making the piano sound either like a stringed instrument, a drum or like a complete orchestra. And at times even like a piano. His versatility never ceases to astonish the audience: In his improvisations he not only incorporates classical, folk and dance music but also military marches and soundtracks.
