Mozaik // L’Orchestra di Piazza Vittorio

Mozaik

Rather than a regular band, Mozaik could be characterized as a fervid session project with a variable cast.

Suat Borazan and Turay Dinleyen are the essential part of the group. Borazan plays the traditional darbuka-drum running international workshops and performing with the popular techno band Harem. Violinist Dinleyen is equally committed to playing with the radio symphony orchestra and the electro groove band of Can Attila. In Berlin Mozaik will be performing as a quartet together with kanun player Mehmet Çeliksu – currently a member of Burhan Öçal’s band – and the young nay player Ali Tüfekci.

L’Orchestra di Piazza Vittorio

The multicultural Roman district Esquilino with its Piazza Vittorio Emanuele is home to the Orchestra di Piazza Vittorio: a group of 16 musicians from four continents and 11 countries. Their music is as variegated and colourful as the band members’ backgrounds. The orchestra was founded in 2002 in assembling a group of buskers for a film score recording. Integrating all styles from jazz, blues, pop and reggae to folk they prove the age-old saying: All roads lead to Rome.
