Concert
Alexander von Schlippenbach’s assigned composition Globe Unity set the path for first founding this orchestra in 1966. In those days attitude and liberation of inner constraints were still major topics of concern in the musical field. The necessity to defy social conventions led to one of the longest running alliances in European jazz history: the Globe Unity Orchestra.
Max Nagl’s impetus in improvisation reaches far: jazz, noise and traditional music are in no fear of contact with French chanson and avant-garde music. In his current ensemble he is mostly gathering musicians belonging to the emerging Viennese Jazzwerkstatt scene. Without much doubt Nagl is the only representative in modern jazz with an operetta to his credit.
