The Bankruptcy Jazz // Stephan-Max Wirth

The Bankruptcy Jazz

Flemish poet Paul van Ostaijen (1896-1928) wrote this film scenario while living in Berlin and riding the crest of the DADA movement. The script was not realised until just recently director/producer team van Maaren and Herrebout accepted the challenge. Being a collage of old and new footage The Bankruptcy Jazz is assembled in the style of the twenties.

Stephan-Max Wirth: DADA Republic!

Also based on Flemish poet Paul van Ostaijen’s film scenario from the early twenties, German saxophonist/composer Stephan-Max Wirth puts up a multidimensional show, involving German and Flemish musicians as well as dancers of the Ballett Kiel along with films mixed live by videographer Michael Carsten. Wirth not only tries to restore the historical artwork but translates the dadaist idea of harmony of diverse matter by using artistic means of the new millennium.
