Arne Jansen Trio

The Arne Jansen Trio reunites old acquaintances; even before joining the highly acclaimed German trio [em] alongside keyboards-wizard Michael Wollny, both Eva and Eric had been playing with Jansen.

In spite of a two quarters personnel consilience with [em], the Arne Jansen Trio operates in an entirely different field that might be best described as ‘harmony replaces friction’. Neglecting any esoteric or fiddly approaches, his songs are pleasantly relaxed and authentic. This is instrumental jazz straight from the Berlin streets – grown between bicycle racks, doner kebab huts, subway pits and skating sites.

Jansen’s fortes are simple melodies and his unagitated proximity to rock. Memories of John Abercrombie’s first Gateway album with Dave Holland and Jack DeJohnette emerge; Arne Jansen is a poet on the electric guitar and a master of a well arranged formate.
