“Ein Polnischer Traum”
Angélique Duvier / Vladyslav Sendecki © Caro
Soirée at the Savoy. Ein Polnischer Traum (‘A Polish Dream’) by pianist Vladyslav Sendecki and his wife, actor Angélique Duvier, with trumpet player Reiner Winterschladen is a fusion of jazz and lyric. Embedded in a multi-facetted and expressive musical frame, Angélique Duvier recites selected texts by outstanding Polish authors – and opens a window into the Polish soul.
In the 1960ies, US beat-poetry found a European equivalent in Poland. Czesław Miłosz or Wisława Szymborska, just to name two of the main lyricists, were as well revered in a German cultural climate which anticipated and commented the pre- and post-'68 generation-issues. Joachim Ernst Berendt, also founder of Berliner Jazztage (the predecessor of JazzFest Berlin) produced one of the recorded milestones of that era: Meine Süsse Europäische Heimat (My Sweet European Homeland), music by Krzysztof Komeda … well, back to contemporary issues!
