Josef och Erika © Miki Anagrius
It seems like a bass and a voice, that is all that Josef Kallerdahl and Erika Angell need to create fathomless, yet crystal-clear songs.
In the last decade the duo has gained a well-deserved corner of their own on the alternative music scene with their uniquely minimalistic and innocent melodies – and a Swedish Grammy nomination for their adequately named second album Small Small Small Small Sounds (2007).
This season, Josef & Erika have expanded their duo with arrangements for tuba, french horn and flugelhorn. The vast and deep voice of the brass trio is carefully added to their otherwise minimalistic expression. It’s a perfect match, and brings another atmosphere to the new songs, influenced by folk, pop and experimental music.
Erika Angell – vocals, portable acoustic organ, zither
Josef Kallerdahl – double bass, electric bass, vocals
