Saxophonist Silke Eberhard is a prolific member of the younger, established Berlin jazz scene. Her musical vocabulary embraces free improvisation as well as modern traditional material like the work of Ornette Coleman or Eric Dolphy.

Apart from leading bands of her own she has a preference for small formats and accordingly appears in duos with pianists extraodinaire Ulrich Gumpert and Aki Takse. In her relatively new musical union with Swiss drummer Alex Huber she has the freedom to integrate her melodic lines in the flow of spontaneously generated drum impulses. Their subtle interaction leaves wide spaces for individual creative excursions.

They are pioneers of the European improvised music. But as a duo, Aki Takase and Han Bennink leave all provoking attitude behind and focus on interacting with instinctive feel and humour. Their recent CD Two for Two reminds of a gaudy treasure chest filled with musical gems. Both protagonists draw on abundant resources and play whatever comes to their minds. Sometimes subtle sometimes laying it really thick their repertoire reveals glimpses of zippy military marches as well as impish blues numbers, polkas or ragtime. Great fun!
