Since 1994, the Albert-Mangelsdorff-Prize (German Jazz Award), named after the legendary trombone player, takes account of the individual artistic aspect of jazz, and aims to reward outstanding and continuous achievements in jazz music. The prize money is donated by GEMA, GVL and DKV. For the first time the award will go to a trombonist: Nils Wogram.
