Eric Dolphy - „Love Suite“
Silke Eberhard Potsa Lotsa © Oliver Potratz
The fantastic jazz innovator Eric Dolphy crops up thematically in several ways during this year’s Berlin Jazz Festival. Silke Eberhard works with her own trio, plays the “Ornette Coleman Anthology” together with pianist Aki Takase and casts a fresh glance at Eric Dolphy’s entire oeuvre with her quartet Potsa Lotsa. Her inquiring mind led her to a composition that Eric Dolphy left unfinished, probably for his planned wedding, perhaps conceived as a hymn to love: the “Love Suite”. For Silke Eberhard this work becomes a challenge both in terms of improvisation and composition. With the extended line-up of Potsa Lotsa plus, she dares attempt a completion.
