Jazzfest Berlin 2015: Music and public talk

As a prelude to the 2015 Jazzfest Berlin, a special event features music and conversation. Richard Williams, the festival’s new artistic director, will talk about some of the themes he pursued while assembling this year’s programme. The evening’s performers will be two pianists scheduled to be heard in the festival itself: Julia Kadel and Alexander Hawkins.

Kadel, who was born in Berlin, will appear with her trio at A-Trane on 5 November, while Hawkins – an increasingly prominent figure in the British and international jazz scene – appears with the quartet of Louis Moholo-Moholo on the Main Stage of the Haus der Festspiele on 8 November. Tonight both will perform solo sets, and will join a panel discussion.
