Chris Abrahams, Tony Buck and Lloyd Swanton began playing together in Australia in 1986. Almost 30 years later they are still following the path of making music that is improvised from start to finish, with no predetermined material or even a discussion. “It’s important that we don’t know where it’s going to go,” Buck says, but they manage to imbue their collective inventions with a sense of profound and often lyrical inevitability. The writer Geoff Dyer called them “uncompromising and addictive in equal measure”. On this occasion a new element will be introduced by Abrahams’ use of the Gedächtniskirche’s organ, its 5,000 pipes built in 1962 by the Berlin factory of Karl Schuke.
