With its community and outreach programme, Jazzfest Berlin invites audiences to experience jazz as a vibrant art form and an open field of experimentation. Together with local partners, initiatives from Moabit and musicians from the festival, this year’s Jazzfest Community Week will feature projects that foster creative participation and open up new spaces for encounter.
The festival week kicks off with an opening concert by students from the Jazz Institute Berlin at PAS Berlin. Leading the way is the trio Oùat, consisting of Simon Sieger, Joel Grip and Michael Griener. With their improvisational skills, they thrilled audiences at last year’s Jazzfest Berlin, taking them on musical journeys rooted in jazz but encompassing an entire world of styles. They will receive musical support from Senegalese musician and griot Assane Seck. Afterwards, a neighbourhood session will take place, which is open to anyone interested in music for active participation.
