Sound Installation

Marc Sabat / Peter Sabat

Marc and Peter Sabat project a sound and image space into an existing spatial situation – the Rangfoyer in the Haus der Berliner Festspiele – which allows the listener to relive the genesis of the sounds and also enables them to inspect the sounds in their (virtual) geography in the centre, left and right at the edges.

At the same time, this world of sound with its polyphonic texture, harmonies and microscopic noises is a distant reflection of music from long ago – the ballad Sumite karissimi by Magister Zacharias from the late 14th century – whose viruoso sonority has been reawakened for our times by Marc Sabat.
