Concert | Japan and the West | Piano Recital
Aki Takahashi, undoubtedly Japan’s most important avant-garde pianist, has maintained close connections with Berlin since the 1970s. Among those who have composed pieces especially for Takahashi are John Cage, Morton Feldman, Isang Yan, Maki Ishi, Takehisha Kosugi. In her recital Takahashi will present pieces by Western composers of the 1940s and 50s who were influenced by their discovery of Japanese aesthetics and juxtapose them with more recent and contemporary works by Japanese musicians.
