Concert | Guitar + Clarinet + Voice
The unusual combination of instruments is programmatic: four pieces composed for the highly individual sound of Aleph Gitarrenquartett, complemented by a clarinet. Since its foundation in 1993, the ensemble from Karlsruhe has inspired numerous compositions and built up a quite unusual repertoire. Tonight’s compositions will sound out the sonic spectrum of this homogenic ensemble, expand it with clarinet, sampler and vocals, and make use of the musical associative space of this ‘instrument’. Among others, three first performances will be presented: new works by Vinko Globokar, Caspar Johannes Walter, Beat Furrer together with Helmut Oehring’s Mich.Stille (me.silence) for guitar quartet and additional recordings, and Wolfgang Rihm’s Vier Male (four times) for solo clarinet.
