Koch – Schütz – Studer

The Swiss trio Koch-Schütz-Studer is internationally renowned for its radical and uncompromising Hardcore Chambermusic. The three musicians have worked together since 1990. Extreme contrasts and contradictions are typical of their music. With “sequenced sounds” stemming from various unidentifiable sources and the use of live electronics they build up compact sonic walls which they subsequently oppose to wholly acoustic, minimal ambient improvisations.

Analogue (“played”) and digital (“programmed”) beats are juxtaposed with free improvisations acting beyond such limits. Their music is absolutely free of stylistic restrictions. The four virtuoso musicians have been at home in this “style-free” zone for quite some time and with their live performances at jazz festivals, in underground rock and electronics clubs, as well as in the context of “classic” contemporary music events have demonstrated that they deem a radically artistic attitude more important than all stylistic categories or genres.
