Fátima Miranda

Cantos Robados is the most recent gesamtkunstwerk by unique Spanish vocal artist Fátima Miranda, with video and lights, costumes and make-up. In the richness of her highly virtuoso singing techniques she merges flamenco with Mongolian harmonic singing, Indian dhrupad, yodelling, whistling and trills into breathtaking experimental vocal artistry. Between Salamanca, the native town of the artist and Samarkand on the way to India where she studied music, between Occident and Orient, between tradition and avant-garde lie the places, where the Cantos Robados, the “stolen songs”, were metaphorically conceived.
