“Tambuco” is Mexico’s most renowned percussion group and among the best and most innovative worldwide. Its musicians defy any stylistic categorization, the repertoire ranges from structuralist percussion to ethnic drums and avantgardistic sound interpretations. They are perfect, experienced, highly original and electrifying. Their traditional instruments are extended into anything “imaginable” and “unimaginable” − the foot of their musical stands, their finger nails, or their tongues. In its programme the quartet presents pieces that are technically and musically highly demanding and convey the fundamental aspects of contemporary compositions for percussion instruments in Mexico.
