Installation | Video Music Installation | Opening
Phill Niblock, born in Indiana in 1933, is a pioneer of intermedial art. As early as the mid-1960s he was working with music, film, photography, video and computer technologies. His powerful, microtonal compositions, which are closely related to minimal art, generate immersive soundscapes in interaction with the acoustics of the performance space.
The installations N + M and Nomis comprise of video and sound recordings of the live performances by Magda Mayas (piano) and Tony Buck (percussion). The moving images and sounds created are projected into the room in a modified, superimposed and condensed form.
