In electronic music, a »Faltung« (a convolution) is a process that creates acoustic answers via acoustic impulses. In gefaltet, this principle is expanded into a dialogue between the dancers and the musicians: the impulses and resonances of their bodies in space unfold and fill gaps and thresholds, emptiness and distance.
The exploration of contemporary and classical compositions has for many years constituted a focal point of Sasha Waltz’s artistic work. By including instrumental soloists as the work evolves and at the performing level, the interplay of dance and music in gefaltet takes on a new dimension within Sasha Waltz’s genre-overlapping work.
