Ensemble KNM Berlin

Since it was founded by students at the Hanns Eisler School of Music Berlin, the Ensemle KNM Berlin has – with its many world premieres and unusual projects in urban spaces, such as “HouseMusik”, the “lunch & after work” concerts or more recently the “Clang Cut Book” series – established itself as an artistic formation typical of Berlin which contributes to a local dissemination process as well as the international networking of Berlin’s contemporary music scene.

The Ensemble KMN always works closely with soloists and composers currently active in the metropolis. It has put together the MaerzMusik concert with Berlin-based, multifaceted Russian singer and voice performer Natalia Pschenitschnikova. Under the direction of Russian conductor Fedor Lednev, the ensemble and the soloist present compositions by Fabien Lévy, a new composition by Alexandra Filonenko and the world premiere of “Scompositio” for the female voice, divided ensemble and sonic projections by Boris Filanovsky. The latter is a work that musically and spatially transforms the divisive and dissociating schizophrenias of the words and typefaces of Emma Hauck (1878-1920), who formulated them in letters to her husband from the psychiatric clinic in Heidelberg.
