For more than 15 years, the project QuerKlang has been premiering collectively developed compositions by students from Berlin’s schools as part of MaerzMusik.

Accompanied by teams consisting of a teacher, a composer and a university student, the pupils investigate sounds, arrange them into compositions and share their discoveries with the public. QuerKlang brings together three different working environments: the world of the school, of university education and that of professional musicians and composers, thriving on the sparks and tensions between these worlds.

Programme

World premieres of group compositions by pupils of Carl-Kraemer Grundschule (Gesundbrunnen), Goethe Gymnasium (Wilmersdorf), Musikgymnasium C.P.E.Bach (Mitte), Schule am Schloss (Charlottenburg), Fichtelgebirge-Grundschule (Kreuzberg), Immanuel-Kant-Gymnasium (Lichtenberg), Robert-Blum Gymnasium (Schöneberg) accompanied by their music teachers as well as Robin Hayward, Mijin Oh, Irene Galindo Quero, Anna Clementi, Sascha Dragicevic, Mathias Hinke, Kerstin Wiehe and students of the University of the Arts Berlin and the Hochschule für Musik Hanns Eisler Berlin
