In the fields of physics and thermodynamics, entropy is often described as a measure of disorder. However, since disorder is not a defined term in physics, entropy can also be understood as a well-defined objective measure of the amount of information that would be needed to infer the actual microstate of a system from an observable macrostate.

Drummer Vanessa Porter presents Samir Odeh-Tamimi’s visual and acoustic polyrhythmic composition Éndropía, which explores the concept through mixing different events and systems in live electronic sound spaces. Rhythms become parts of a closed system that mix, condense, and separate in a processual manner.
