Every year we invite previous participants Treffen junge Musikszene meeting for Nahaufnahme. The Nahaufnahme 2024 starts where the musicians are in their development, tries to respond to individual needs and helps to formulate musical-artistic goals and explore ways to get there. New songs are created or musical projects that have already begun are further developed.&nbsp;

The Campus programme is exclusively for the participants of the Treffen junge Musikszene and not open to the public. It consists of the sections Workshops and Coachings.The programme is only available in German.

Campus 2024

A total of 13 musical acts — including four bands, two duos and seven solo performers — will come to Berlin from 19 to 24 November as award winners of the 42nd Treffen junge Musikszene. A day later, they will be joined by 21 other talented young people who have been selected by the jury as award winners of the 40th Treffen junger Autor*innen.From 20 to 23 November, the Haus der Berliner Festspiele will host concerts, readings, talks and performances by the prize-winning authors and musicians, open to the public. In addition, a variety of workshops and coaching sessions will provide safe spaces where the young artists can meet, inspire one another and, with professional support from experienced workshop leaders, be encouraged to further develop their personal artistic expression.

Inspiration included: Young authors and the young musicians come together

The Treffen junge Musikszene offers young musicians a platform to present their self-written, lyricized or self-produced music. In addition to public concerts, the Treffen creates a creative space in which the prize-winners can further develop their musical signature in intensive workshops, receive tips and knowledge from professionals for their work, and get to know each other, exchange ideas and jam together.

Award Winners of Treffen junge Musikszene

A highlight of the Treffen junge Musik-Szene is the public concert of the award winners. Due to the Corona pandemic, it was not possible for the twelve acts selected by the jury to present their work live in front of an audience in 2021. Instead, the young musicians had the opportunity to record their selected songs in professional studio sessions.

The Berliner Festspiele organise a range of festivals and art exhibitions, concerts, dance and theatre performances, readings, lectures, debates and much more throughout the year. These events are presented at a range of locations across Berlin but are concentrated primarily at their own two venues: the Gropius Bau and the Haus der Berliner Festspiele.

The four meetings

Young theatre makers, dancers, musicians and authors are given a platform for their creative work at the four national contests of the Treffen junge Szene and are specifically supported in their artistic development.

The international Jazzfest Research Lab&nbsp;welcomes academics and students to take a critical look at the festival’s archive, its programmes, creators, musicians and – last but not least – its myths. In two seminars during the summer semester of 2024, students from the Berlin University of the Arts and the University of Hildesheim have explored the festival’s history from various perspectives. To mark its 60th anniversary, Jazzfest Berlin is celebrating the cultural diversity of the neighbouring district of Moabit in collaboration with around 35 official partners and initiatives and with over 350 participants of all ages.&nbsp;In June 2024, interviews were conducted with 20 partners who presented their perspectives, wishes and ideas for the Jazzfest Community Lab Moabit. From October 2025 to January 2026, the Performing Arts Season will present outstanding international productions from the fields of dance, theatre and performance at the Haus der Berliner Festspiele and the Gropius Bau. The programme schedule is online, advance ticket sale is on. The current edition focuses on the fragility and dynamics of identity, especially in times of social change and marginalization.

This year’s Jazzfest Berlin is welcoming 120&nbsp;international musicians from more than 20&nbsp;countries to Berlin, spanning an artistically diverse range, from free improvisation to hip-hop and noise, from lyrical and melancholic tones to distorted guitar sounds and stuttering beats, and from introverted solo sets to thundering large ensembles.&nbsp;The programme has been published and advance ticket sales are on.

21 prize winners were selected from 400 young writers. The authors succeed in conveying intimate and powerful emotions in a moving way without resorting to kitsch. They also tell their stories in quiet voices, with beautiful observations of detail, and draw exciting and self-confident protagonists.
