Baby Bonk // nuBox feat. DJ Illvibe

Baby Bonk

Describing the Berlin quartet Baby Bonk requires a versatile vocabulary: postmodern and dada are top of the list followed by political satire, old-fashioned glamour, impromptu guitar solos and suggestive innuendo; in the end their tongue-in-cheek approach defies all description.

All four musicians have been gaining experience with different ensembles in Germany and abroad before embarking on this colourful project.

In 1985 the band Blue Box paved the way for the revolution of electric jazz in Germany: trumpeter Reiner Winterschladen, bass player Alois Kott and drummer Peter Eisold delivered a powerful performance at the Berlin Jazz Festival outdoing even Miles Davis. Three years later they were heating up the German Art Disco at the Olympic Games in Seoul together with DJ WestBam. Recently Blue Box has turned into nuBox, their change of name coming along with DJ Illvibe – a/k/a Vincent von Schlippenbach of Seeed turntable-fame.
