Originating from Cologne/Germany, now based in Zurich trombonist Nils Wogram ranks among the most popular and creative assets of the German jazz scene. As an instrumentalist, as well as a composer and bandleader, he has mastered the full range from free improvised music to chamber jazz compositions to relaxed grooves.
The Berlin Jazz Festival features four of his projects: Root 70 mediates between different ideas of tradition and modernity, Europe and America. His Nostalgia Trio cultivates a rather intimate interplay of imagination and memory. Dynamics and structure predominate in his duo with Simon Nabatov, and in his septet, six horns and a drum set generate a complex and unique sound at times reminiscent of a futuristic Orchestrion.
As part of the Nils Wogram Portrait he will be performing another concert with his Septet and as a duo on Friday Nov 2, 10:30 pm at the Quasimodo.
