Music Theatre
Roland Pfrengle
Four women perform on stage in a peculiar manner. They embody four specific ways of positioning oneself in music and dance. The audience area is completely different. It serves as a projection surface for images and is surrounded by mobile percussion instruments. A second, virtual audience area is added via loudspeakers. It embodies the increasing pictorial nature of life and the perception buried in actionism and the flood of images in mechanical dependence. The main theme of ‘An sich – Bilder/Stille’ is the immediate reception of phenomena. The entire theatrical space, i.e. the stage and audience area, accommodates a range of different behaviours on the theme of sensory perception. The musical medium includes live electronics, rasterised in stages of immediacy, which are triggered by the soloists. Moving light and moving reflections of light overlap in their tendencies with the musical processes, detaching themselves from them in order to find their own paths from action to concentration. Music theatre here is also ‘instrumental’ theatre.
