Concert | Sonic Arts Lounge
‘Stanze d'ascolto’, or ‘listening rooms’ in English, is a performance that combines sound, poetry and digital art in a space designed to create a sensory experience for the audience. It is a play with media, oscillating between art and technology.
The versatile Italian artist Isabella Bordoni plays with the musical and media aspects of language – of poetry – in her numerous international performances. On stage, she develops a kind of acoustic dance from language and the sound of language.
The piece is a scene of transitions, of deliberately crossed boundaries. Isabella Bordoni's language undergoes transformations to become pure sound; words leave their original meaning, combine with music and images, and are elevated to new levels in a special live interplay. Stanze d'ascolto is poetry to hear – and see.
The music of The Beige Oscillator bears traces of past pop music genres such as electro and house, trip hop, even rock music, without quoting or copying these styles. This music, neither noncommittal nor ingratiating, is certainly the result of the unusual musical biographies of the two Berlin-based producers: Hanno Leichtmann, originally a drummer, and Nicholas Bussmann, originally a cellist, worked together in the mid-1990s, when the bands were still called ‘blei war sein lohn’ or ‘no doctor’ and were dedicated to improvised music and free jazz. Bussmann and Leichtmann then formed the combo ‘ich schwitze nie’ (I never sweat) with singer, actor and multi-instrumentalist Lars Rudolph, which is still active today.
