Concert
With its unusual combination of instruments – piano, drums, saxophone – and the excellent solo skills of its musicians Trio Accanto, founded in 1994, has given new stimuli to numerous contemporary composers. Its extensive repertoire, with few exceptions, consists of pieces expressly composed for the trio. At MaerzMusik 2007 the trio will present Three Episodes by Japanese composer Tomoko Fukui, which it premiered in Darmstadt in the summer of 2006, and, together with mezzo-soprano Jenny Renate Wicke, perform Bernhard Lang’s DW 16: Songbook I. Recent projects of the trio include commissions to Italian composer Gianluca Ulivelli and Taiwanese composer Pei-Yu Shi. Both composers are currently holding positions as artist-in-residence at the ZKM in Karlsruhe.
