Concert
A happy coincidence bought together seven exceptional musicians, who resolved to forge new paths in the world of Ensembles as Ensemble ascolta, comprising mainly of brass and percussion instruments. Numerous works that have since been written for the Ensemble from Stuttgart, attest the originality of this chamber music formation, whose range extends from classical modern to theatrical concepts to the border line between new music and rock. The unusual combination of trumpet, trombone, drums, cello, guitar and piano almost demands new musical inventions. MaerzMusik, festival of contemporary music, presents with Ensemble ascolta under the musical direction of Johannes Schöllhorn in the historic Sophienkirche an evening of premieres, made possible by mutual commissions and sponsored by the Ernst von Siemens Musikstiftung. New works by Isabel Mundry (*1963), Saskia Bladt (*1981), Johannes Schöllhorn (*1962), Meng-Chia Lin (*1978), Beat Furrer (*1954) and Eduardo Moguillansky (*1977), composers who met one another on a teacher-pupil basis, reveal the aesthetic diversity and the artistic possibilities of unusual instrumentation and unveil at same time the most recent compositional creations of two generations.
