“The very model of Augenmusik!” – The idea behind the project Tiere sitzen nicht is to reject the usual procedure for commissioned works. From the very beginning, the work should be the result of an intensive collaboration between composer and ensemble. This unusual production process, which took over a year, has resulted in an evening long musical stage work that was premiered in Cologne in November 2010. Every musician plays around 10 percussion instruments and one or two keyboards in addition to their usual main and additional instruments. The subtitle of the piece “stage music for 200 instruments” is therefore no exaggeration. This immense array of sound generators serves not only for the production of music. At the same time, they form the stage set on which the musicians perform. This incidental music will take place on a concert stage. Every prop makes a sound.
