Theatre of Voices, an ensemble of finest vocal art, specialises in old and New Music. Paul Hilier founded the ensemble, based in Kopenhagen, in 1990. He has been preoccupied with Stockhausen’s Stimmung – through the use of delicate and multi-nuanced overtone singing, one of the pioneer works of new vocal music – ever since singing the work himself in the ‘70s. In 2005/06 he developed from its score, which allows different versions of performance, the so-called ›Kopenhagen version‹. Its recording received the highest prizes. The musikfest presents Stimmung in this version for the first time in Berlin.
