Russian Engineering Theatre, Saint Petersburg

Depot of Ingenious Delusions
Perfectly fusing aesthetics and technology, this installation performance is based on erroneous scientific theories of the last hundred years. The ten selected theories by famous scientists and Nobel Prize winners are theories about the world order, spanning from elementary particles to the universe; during the 20th century these theories were generally accepted, but have since been irrevocably disproven.
The artists of AKHE, founded in St. Petersburg in 1989, take these ingenious but false theories as the starting point for thinking about the fate of current scientific ideas. They create associative-spatial installations that serve as a “screen” for a 3D mapping of video projections.
