“Game of Survival” addresses the destructive consequences of envy. In its first production, Ensemble Bunt, consisting mainly of Ukrainian dancers, shows how gossip and gossip as outgrowths of envy characterise a society and how overcoming this feeling can lead to a new quality of togetherness. “Game of Survival” is a fight against internal and external conditions.

Available from 24 September 2024 until 26 September 2025 in the BerlinerFestspiele Media Library.

We are Ensemble Bunt and have been working together for a year. While one of us has been dancing for 15 years, the other is just taking her first (dance) steps. Nevertheless, we manage to create something together and pursue a common goal: the development of our dance.

Most of our team are Ukrainian, which is why the name of our ensemble is a play on words from two languages. The German word ‘Bunt’ sounds like the Ukrainian word ‘Бунт’, which means ‘uprising’ in German. With our production, we want to show you the consequences of uncontrolled envy. You have probably been confronted with gossip at some point in your life. Have you ever thought that envy could be the trigger for this? Can it be said that an envious person dies inside?

Can you say that gossip is a form of deception? With gossip, everyone sees only black or white and nobody looks at the grey. What if people who have overcome their envy could change our society for the better? Gossip is society's ‘game of survival’. The fight against our own feelings of envy is the “Game of Survival” within ourselves.
