An energetic short piece, danced on and around a mirrored surface, a play with light and shadow and a choreographic exploration of mirrors, mirroring oneself and self-reflection. The piece, developed independently by the then 12-year-old Otto Emil Koch, shows the different movement styles of the five young dancers and emphasises their diversity.

Production in the media library

Available from 23 September 2024 until 26 September 2025 in the BerlinerFestspiele Media Library.

The young choreographers of Bad Honnef tanzt are 16 dance enthusiasts aged between 6 and 20 who work together creatively on their own responsibility and receive targeted workshops to develop their own pieces. They not only take on the role of director, but also practise their leadership skills and collaborate with musicians, stage, costume and video artists. Every year, they present a gala with their own pieces, from solos to duets, small group pieces or choreographies with all participants and then attend various festivals and exchange formats. The age and dance style are open.

The group got to know each other at the Young Choreographers shortly after Andrej from Ukraine, Deng from Sudan and Renata from Mexico moved to Bad Honnef. When they were developing the piece, they could only speak English with each other. The piece premiered at the ResiDANCE festival in Bad Honnef in 2023 and was subsequently invited to Dynamo - Junge Tanzplattform NRW at PACT Zollverein.
