
Dandan Liu, born in Beijing in 1989, is a independent dramaturge and theatre maker. She has been part of the managing collective of the Berlin Ringtheater since 2019 and programme curator of the Freies Werkstatt Theater Köln since 2023. As a theatre maker, her focus is on performance, political play development and dance theatre that deal with contemporary East Asian histories. She combines transcultural perspectives with analytical and critical thinking. As dramaturgical advisor to AmnAsia @ Asian Performing Artist Lab from 2020 to 2024 and Tanztage Berlin 2023/2024, she supports the long-term development of emerging artists. Her previous works, in which she was involved as a production dramaturge, have been shown at Hebbel am Ufer, Sophiensæle, Pact Zollverein Essen, Theaterhaus G7 Mannheim, Esplanade Singapore and as part of the Prague Quadrennial 2019, among others.
