Cristina Berio

Cristina Berio is the sole daughter of renowned musicians Cathy Berberian and Luciano Berio. Born in Milan, she pursued her musical education at the Conservatorio Giuseppe Verdi in Milan and the Juilliard School of Music in New York. In her twenties, Cristina Berio moved to Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, where she immersed herself in film production and performed as a percussionist and vocalist in Brazilian jazz ensembles.

Subsequently, Cristina Berio established her career in Los Angeles as a documentary producer, creating cultural and current affairs documentaries for BBC, VPRO TV, and other Dutch public broadcasters, while maintaining her musical pursuits by touring and recording with TribalJazz, a group founded by The Doors’ drummer John Densmore.

Married to renowned film producer Pieter Jan Brugge, Cristina Berio now divides her time between Los Angeles and Italy, working as a Creative Supervisor on the localization of major projects by directors such as Steven Spielberg, Robert Zemeckis, and Stephen Soderbergh, as well as on theatrical film releases for DreamWorks, Paramount, Universal, Sony, and Amazon Prime.

Since 2013, she has been curating the content for the website www.CathyBerberian.com, dedicated to her mother, with the help of her son, Alessandro Berio.
