Jonas Weber

Jonas Weber, born in 1995, stumbled upon theatre rather by chance and stayed for the fulfilment it brought him. While studying Directing at Frankfurt University of Music and Performing Arts and Uniarts Theatre Academy Helsinki, he explored a wide spectrum ranging from spoken theatre to installations, scenic concerts and performance art. His often interdisciplinary projects have been invited to the F LAB Festival of Performing Arts, the D-bü Competition of German Music Academies and the Körber Young Directors Studio, among others. He was a scholarship holder of the Deutschlandstipendium, the Frankfurter Bachkonzerte e.V. and the Akademie Musiktheater heute. Since 2022 he has been working as a director, his projects have taken him to the Künstler*innenhaus Mousonturm Frankfurt, the Theater Oberhausen and the Staatstheater Mainz, among others. He understands directing as a caring search that challenges and connects people and disciplines. The resulting performances often differ greatly – and yet somehow he always ends up with nonsense and melancholy.
