Ahmet Altinel

Ahmet Altinel was born in 1971 in Istanbul and studied the violin and composition at Mimar Sinan Üniversitesi. In addition, he studied the viola at the Hochschule für Musik Detmold. As solo violist and in chamber music formations, Altinel has performed in Turkey, Switzerland and Germany. His works have been performed in Turkey, Austria, Germany and the USA.
Ahmet Altinel’s music is colourful, elegant, dense and multilayered in style. His compository techniques are influenced by the French École spectrale and his works are at times inspired by literary models. With his orchestral work, “Les sources de la nuit”, he won the European composer’s prize at the Young Euro Classics festival in Berlin in 2008.
