Bettina Stucky

Bettina Stucky was born in Bern in 1969. Due to her parents’ professions – her father was an archaeologist, her mother was an art historian – she spent her childhood in Beirut and Athens.
She studied acting at the Bern Academy of the Arts. Apart from joining the acting companies at Wuppertaler Bühnen, Theater Basel, Schauspielhaus Zürich as well as Volkshochbühne am Rosa-Luxemburg-Platz in Berlin for several years. Bettina Stucky also worked as a freelance actor in numerous productions and as a guest at various theatres including Theaterhaus Jena, Staatstheater Kassel, Schaubühne Berlin, Münchner Kammerspiele, Vienna’s Burgtheater and MC93 in Paris (formerly Théâtre Bobigny).
She has an especially close working relationship with director Christoph Marthaler. Furthermore, she has regularly worked with Luk Perceval, René Pollesch, Stefan Pucher, Anna Viebrock and Jossi Wieler.

She became a member of the acting company of Deutsches SchauSpielHaus Hamburg in 2013/14. Currently, she can be seen in the production “Bernarda Albas Haus” (directed by Katie Mitchell), which was invited to this year’s Theatertreffen. In addition, Bettina Stucky regularly works in film and television.

During the 2002 Theatertreffen, Bettina Stucky received the Alfred-Kerr-Acting-Award for her role as Natalya in “Three Sisters” (directed by Stefan Pucher) as well as her performance in the ensemble of Schubert’s “Die schöne Müllerin” (directed by Christoph Marthaler) from juror Elisabeth Trissenaar. Alongside Fabian Hinrichs and Valery Tscheplanowa, Bettina Stucky is now also both a winner and a juror of the Alfred-Kerr-Acting-Award.
She has received numerous further awards including the 2029 Swiss Grand Prix Theatre Prize, the 2007 Swiss Television Award and the 2004 Swiss Film Award. Moreover, she was a jury member for the Mühlheim Dramatists’ Awards (2015) and Berliner Autor*innentage at Deutsches Theater (2018).
