Karl Ove Knausgård

Karl Ove Knausgård was born in 1968 and is considered to be one of the most important Norwegian writers of his generation. He was the first author ever to be presented with the Norwegian Critic’s Prize for Literature for his debut novel. His second book, “A time to every purpose under heaven” won several awards and was nominated for the Nordic Council’s Literature Prize and the international IMPAC Dublin Literary Award. “A death in the family”, the first novel in an autobiographical literary project with six volumes titled “Min Kamp (My struggle)”, caused a sensation in Norway and became one of the most frequently discussed books of recent years. It topped the best-seller lists for months, received the Brage-Award (Norway’s most important literary award), was chosen as one of the best books from the last decade by the newspaper “VG” and voted book of the year by the readers of the “Morgenbladet”-newspaper. The German edition of the cycle’s fifth volume will shortly be published by the publishing house Luchterhand. Karl Ove Knausgård lives on the southern Swedish coast with his family.
