Miriam Unterthiner

Miriam Unterthiner was born in 1994 and grew up in the outskirts of a small mountain village in South Tyrol, Italy. She studied Philosophy and German Literature in Innsbruck and German Philology and Language Arts at the University of Applied Arts Vienna. She currently lives in Vienna and writes predominantly for the stage. Her theatre text Blutbrot was awarded the University of Innsbruck’s Prize for Literature in 2024 and both the Kleist Prize for New Playwriting’s Advancement Award and the Austrian Book Prize’s Debut Award in 2025. The text has been published in book form by edition laurin, innsbruck university press. Her play Mundtot was also awarded the Hans Gratzer Preis by Schauspielhaus Wien in 2025.
