Rohan Chander

Rohan Chander a.k.a AIYAAR, born 1998, is a musician based primarily in New York City. His work concerns intersections of the hyper-personal and post digital, calling into question resultant cultural practices, identity, and aesthetic biases. Primarily working with electronic mediums, his work draws particular emphasis on the virtual body and the relationship between performativity and production, as well as assumptions about the practices of producer, author, and composer. Rohan’s work often lives in fantasy spaces with specific and extra-terrestrial circumstances/characters, both of which are embodied in the performance and presentation of a given work.

Described as “some of the most experimental music” of “electronic craziness” (LA Times), Rohan’s work has been commissioned by organizations such as the Los Angeles Philharmonic Association, the Barlow Endowment for Music Composition, Bang on A Can, and the Matt Marks Impact Fund. His work has been performed by ensembles such as Chromic duo, Bearthoven, So Percussion, the International Contemporary Ensemble and Alarm Will Sound. Rohan also serves as the production manager for the Wet Ink Ensemble.
