Sasha Marianna Salzmann is an author of prose and theatre plays, essayist, dramaturg and curator. Salzmann co-edited the cultural and social magazine freitext with Deniz Utlu and spent several years as Writer in Residence at the Maxim Gorki Theater and Artistic Director of Studio Я.
Salzmann’s theatre works have been translated into over 20 languages and won numerous awards including the Berlin Art Prize 2020 and the Ludwig Mühlheims Theatre Prize 2024. Both Salzmann’s debut Außer sich (Beside Myself, 2017) and their second novel Im Menschen muss alles herrlich sein (Glorious People, 2021) were nominated for the German Book Prize.
In 2024 Salzmann was awarded the prestigious Kleist Prize in honour of their complete literary oeuvre.
