Sabrina Basilio

playwright, activist, multimedia artist

Sabrina Basilio is an Ilokano-Gaddang theatre maker focused on the tensions between histories, bodies and more-than-human futures. Through community theatre and eco-dramaturgy, she seeks to open more generative and generous spaces between worlds and worldviews. As a playwright and dramaturg, Basilio’s works have received national recognition, including the 2025 Gawad Buhay Award for Outstanding Adaptation, and have been presented on platforms such as Virgin Labfest, Women Playwrights International, and the Hektomeron Project of Romania. Alongside institutional productions, she has collaborated with agricultural workers, survivors of gender-based violence, incarcerated communities and climate advocates across Asia and Canada. Basilio is a part-time teacher at Ateneo de Manila University, and the co-founder of Jungle Gym Play Laboratory, a trandisciplinary arts collective creating more Laro, Lingap Laya (play, care, freedom) in the world. She is currently based in Manila with her two dog companions, Bonnie and Brie.
