Vitaly Polonsky

Vitaly Polonsky graduated from the Novosibirsk Glinka State Conservatory (Academy), specializing in choral conducting. He was bass soloist and choirmaster of the Novosibirsk State Philharmonic Chamber Choir. Polonsky sang in the Insula Magica early music ensemble under Arkady Burkhanov.

Since 2003, he has participated in Teodor Currentzis’s projects. He was Assistant Conductor in the production of Mozart’s “Le nozze di Figaro” in Novosibirsk in 2006 (director Tatiana Gyurbacha) and in a concert performance of the opera that enjoyed great success in Moscow during the same season. He also assisted Currentzis in a joint production of Verdi’s “Macbeth” by the Novosibirsk State Academic Opera and Ballet Theatre in collaboration with the Grand Opera in Paris in 2008 (director Dmitry Chernyakov). In 2010, he prepared the programme for the New Siberian Singers and the MusicAeterna Orchestra in the Festspielhaus at Baden-Baden (Handel’s “Dixit Dominus” and Purcell’s “Dido and Aeneas”; conductor Teodor Currentzis).

Polonsky has worked at the Perm Opera and Ballet Theatre since 2011. Chorus Master–Producer: “Così fan tutte” (conductor Teodor Currentzis, director Matthias Remus; 2011), “Le nozze di Figaro” (conductor Teodor Currentzis, director Philipp Himmelmann; 2012). Chorus Master: Mahler’s Symphony No. 2, Orff’s “Carmina Burana”, Purcell’s “Dido and Aeneas”, Stravinsky’s “Les noces” and Nikolaev’s “Gereven”; all in 2012.
