Zeynep Gedizlioğlu

Born in 1977 in Izmir, composer Zeynep Gedizlioğlu studied composition with Cengiz Tanç in Istanbul, Theo Brandmüller in Saarbrücken, Ivan Fedele in Strasbourg and Wolfgang Rihm in Karlsruhe. She worked at IRCAM in Paris from 2010 to 2011. Her works are performed Europe-wide and she received the Ernst von Siemens Music Foundation prize in 2012, in addition to other grants and prizes. Impulse and resonance, action and reflective pauses, compression and overlaps determine Gedizlioğlu’s instrumental works. On her first portrait CD, “Kesik-Schnitt” (2012), Ensemble Modern, the Arditti Quartet and SWR Sinfonieorchester Baden-Baden and Freiburg soloists interpret the composer’s music.
